After all, Jim Reeves is famous because he was a great singer, not because he had sex with women who were not his wife. But Jordan chose to do what he did. He put in his book some kind of sexual reference again and again whether it was necessary to telling the story or not. But you will not see the vast majority of those sexual references in his so-called "index". The index is quite incomplete for that reason alone.
It likely was selective exclusion. Because he continues to market the books and related materials, it must be assumed that his main motivation is profit. Fortunately, a number of lyrics from that notebook have been shared between fans. It opened a window to a part of Jim's early career. A few very interesting items of Jim Reeves memorabilia are being auctioned on Ebay this week. These are handwritten lyrics of an early Jim Reeves song, "Vagabond Baby". The lyrics are the original for the song, and most likely when it came to a demo, Jim decided he didn't like the word "Vagabond" anymore and decided to change it for "Heartbreaking" which certainly doesn't agree with the original Vagabond" theme of the rest of the lyrical content.
I note there were four verses in Jim's original and only 3 in the demo. This was left blank I believe, so that Jim could come up with the lyrics for a bridge sometime later. He was never very good at writing bridges which always caused him problems in those early song efforts.
